Studentships and scholarships

Now accepting China Scholarship Council funding

EPSRC and STFC funded studentships

Doctoral training partnerships

We usually receive a yearly allocation of studentships from the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) for Particle Physics and Astrophysics PhD projects and from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for all other physics-based PhD projects.

To be eligible the applicant must meet the entry requirements for the PhD programme and the eligiblity criteria for EPSRC or STFC awards. They are awarded to suitably qualified eligible candidates on a competitive basis and cover their tuition fees and living expenses for up to 3.5 years.

Studentships

We also receive a number of CASE awards to facilitate collaborative research with an industrial partner or a government laboratory. Members of the Physics School offer individual studentships attached to particular grants from UK or EU Research Councils.

Scholarships

We accept a wide range of government scholarships from all over the world and you should apply for these independently from your home country and not through the university.

Self funded

We also welcome well-qualified self-funded students who can cover the appropriate tuition fees and have enough funding to cover living costs in Bristol. Note that tuition fees are subject to a slight increase on an annual basis.

China scholarship council

The University is accepting applications for the China Scholarship Council for students. See the China Scholarship Council information page for details and deadlines.
