Five students from the Bristol Centre for Functional Nanomaterials attended a science communication workshop with the University of Sheffield, Imperial College London and the BBC back in January.
The course, which ran from 18 - 20 January 2018, explored the various ways in which those in research engage with the public and gave a first hand insight into how the media works. Delegates were given the opportunity to practice media techniques like interviewing, scriptwriting and editing, and learnt how to formulate science communications that are relevant and engaging to diverse non-specialist audiences.
Our thanks go to Imperial College London and the BBC for such an insightful and interesting weekend.
