18 September 2015

Twelve school students, aged from 14 to 17, enjoyed their week of work experience in Bristol's School of Physics.

12 students, aged from 14 to 17 and coming from across the country, took part in the School of Physics 2015 work experience week. They report:

We all thoroughly enjoyed the week, which consisted of a variety of talks, experiments and a tour of the university. The talks were all captivating and allowed us to ask questions ranging from physics to materials science and even university life. The experiments and practical work challenged our knowledge of physics and mathematics, and allowed us to apply them in different situations.

We took part in experiments and challenges ranging from the Michelson-Morley experiment to a Force Concept Inventory.

Finally at the end of the week we even searched for the Higgs using real data from the CMS experiment.
