The Video by Tom Scott can now be viewed on YouTube

24 February 2015

CQP PhD Student Jacques Carolan appears in a new YouTube video by Tom Scott, well known YouTube presenter and science personality.

Tom and his team visited the Centre for Quantum Photonics a couple of weeks ago to talk to Jacques about the basics of building a Quantum Computer. The video which is part of Tom's "Things you might not know" channel, informs the viewer about the programming of a Quantum Computer using CQP's Quantum in the Cloud project. The video demonstrates some of the research undertaken within CQP and highlights the benefits of using quantum chips made from silicon to manipulate photons over conventional bulky glass-based technologies. It has so far proved very popular with over 32,000 views in one day.

Jacques Carolan is no stranger to YouTube videos and has been in several over the past few years, including FameLab 2013 and When the Apple Drops - Building a quantum computer out of light in 2014.
