More than 300 guests, including graduands and their parents and friends, came along to the School of Physics graduation party on Friday 11 July as part of the graduation day celebration.

In a presentation ceremony at the Tyndall lecture theatre, Head of School Professor Nick Brook congratulated the Bristol physicists on their achievements.

Professor Sir Mark Welland and his wife Dr Lyn Welland, both Bristol PhDs, presented prizes to the graduates.  In his speech, Professor Welland spoke of the personal benefits that the study of physics can bestow, and the possibilities which can present themselves to individuals and to wider society as a result of this rigorous, scientific way of thinking.

Professor Sir Mark received an honorary Doctor of Science alongside the graduands, who were awarded their degrees at the Physics graduation ceremony a short while later that day.

Congratulations to all our graduates, and their parents and friends who have supported them in their time in Bristol.
