The 2nd Annual HiSPARC conference was held recently in the School of Physics and was a success.
Excellent talks were given by students from South Gloucestershire and Stroud College and Bristol Grammar School, whose students received a Silver Certificate. The winning team of students from Royal High School received a Gold Certificate and won a trip to the Netherlands. There they will present their work at the International HiSPARC conference, and will be sponsored by Bristol Aztec Rotary Club.
Secondary schools and academic institutions join forces in the HiSPARC project to form a network measuring cosmic rays with extremely high energy. Students have an opportunity to participate in real research, with the purpose of finding out more about these mysterious and rare cosmic particles.
