CQP Physics welcomes a cohort of new PhD students in 2012/13.

A total of eight new PhD candidates have commenced their research in the Centre for Quantum Photonics on a variety of research topics under the supervision of Director, Professor Jeremy O’Brien and Deputy Director, Dr Mark Thompson.

Beccie Whittaker, formerly an MSci Chemical Physics student at the University, was introduced to Professor O’Brien and CQP via the self-study modules in the third and fourth year of her undergraduate degree:

“When the opportunity came about to start a PhD with the CQP I could not possibly have turned it down.  The chance to join such a well-respected and established group, investigating and researching such a wide spectrum of topics within the field and at such a high standard – it was too good to miss!”

Welcome all new PhD students! We look forward to the next few years with you and sharing your successes.
