Professor Diana Worrall became President of the International Astronomical Union(IAU) Division for High Energies and Fundamental Physics on 30 August 2012.

At the triennial General Assembly of the IAU in Beijing, the organization of more than 10,000 individual members from 90 countries worldwide voted its first major structural reorganization in 20 years, in which members will be affiliated to one or more of 9 Divisions.

"The new structure is more suited to present-day astronomy, and I'm excited to be heading up a Division covering particularly strong areas and emerging fields of astrophysics," says Professor Worrall.
