More than 70 second year Physics students took part in an intensive three day personal development course - Skillsets: Strategies for Success.

The course involved extensive group work in a business simulation centred on running a leisure centre, specialised skills sessions on topics such as innovation, and a presentation event with external judges, elevator pitches, and prizes donated by Nuffield Health and Fitness of Clifton, Bristol.

A highlight of the course was the involvement of external partners: IBM, BAE Systems, Detica, Ernst & Young, Thales UK, ARM, DuPont, VOX Coaching, and the University of Bath, with significant input from RED and the Careers Service of the University of Bristol.

Course organisers Dr Stephen Dugdale and Dr Terry McMaster commented: “It was great to see our students committing fully to the course, testing themselves in new areas, and picking up real transferable skills”.
