'Supporting Quantum Inclusion & Diversity (SQuID)' event to take place from 7-8 December

25 October 2022

This two-day event is aimed at encouraging all students from underrepresented groups (LGBTQ+, racially minoritised students, students with disabilities, neurodiverse, female and non-binary students) to consider continuing their quantum technology studies at the PhD level.

Join us on Wednesday – Thursday 8 December 2022 to explore how you can pursue a PhD in Quantum Engineering.

The University of Bristol’s Quantum Engineering Centre for Doctoral Training offers a unique training and development experience for those wishing to pursue a career in the emerging field of quantum information, from theory to technologies. We offer 12 fully funded PhD positions each year (£18668 stipend + £4565 for tuition fees in 2022/23).

The event features talks  from quantum scientists and engineers, working both in universities and industry, giving insight into their current roles and their careers to date. Even more importantly, there is ample time to talk in small groups to the other participants who are facing the same decisions, and to current PhD students who have recently faced the same questions. It will be an opportunity to discuss your motivations as well as your concerns and we will seek at address them.

The Thursday session is our annual Open Day for all students and will more broadly address the nature of PhD research, the work environment, the application process, and career options. It will also provide an opportunity to visit the QE-CDT anddiscuss all your questions around PhD study.

How to apply

To register your interest in attending please complete the following application form.

Please note that there are a limited number of places, so early registration is encouraged.
