Inclusive Citation: what is it and how can I do it?
Online
Citations acknowledge the ideas and authors who have shaped and informed our own writing. Being aware of our own citation practices can enable us to amplify diverse voices in research, to create more inclusive and diverse disciplines and to challenge traditional hierarchies.
In this online session you'll become familiar with the ways in which academic literature is not always inclusive. We'll look at how to find literature from diverse sources, and we'll critically question whether the criteria of academic excellence currently disadvantage under-represented voices.
The aims of the session are to:
- share and deepen our understanding of the importance of diverse sources
- explore ways to discover under-represented voices and non-Western scholarship
This session is intended for undergraduate and PGT students from all faculties.
For more information, please see our Decolonising and the Library webpages.
The workshop will take place on Microsoft Teams. A link to the session will be in your confirmation email.
