Some of the prize winners expressed what it meant to them to win their award:

"I am especially grateful to the University and Burges Salmon for this award, as it is recognition of the hard work that I put into the BINC unit. Throughout the year, I was genuinely excited to engage with the materials for this unit, and for this I truly have to thank Dr. Devyani Prabhat!"

Anna-Eleni Giakoumi, Best Student on British Immigration Unit, sponsored by Burges Salmon

"I am honoured to have received a Law School Prize for Best Student in the First Year of the MA Programme. It is a privilege to have my hard work formally recognised by the Law School in what was truly a testing year. Congratulations to everyone that received an award."

Fraser Grice, Best Student in the First Year of the MA Programme, sponsored by the Law School

"I am honoured to have won this prize. It symbolises my hard work and capacity to achieve my career aspirations. Importantly, I am grateful and delighted that the university has founded this scheme in recognition of the difficulties faced by international students. It encourages me to be resilient and confident in accomplishing my future endeavours."

Cher Lyne Peh, International Internship Scholar Scheme, sponsored by the Law School and Azim, Tunku Farik & Wong

I always knew I wanted to be a lawyer. Whether I would be ‘good’ at it was something that I questioned throughout my first year. Winning this prize did not just award my hard work, but also awarded the efforts of my parents that led me to be here, studying something that I love this much.

Parnika Chaturvedi, Best Student in First Year, sponsored by Slaughter and May & Best Student on Law and State, sponsored by Slaughter and May & International Internship Scholar Scheme, sponsored by the Law School and Azim, Tunku Farik & Wong

"Receiving the Medical Law award was a delightful surprise. Covid-19 presented ethical and legal challenges for healthcare systems globally. I am grateful to my lecturers and tutors, who allowed me to better appreciate and understand the interplay between law and policy as means to address social needs while respecting individual rights, especially amidst pandemic circumstances."
