Dr Albert Sanchez-Graells cited in European Scrutiny Commission report

Press release issued: 1 February 2018

Evidence submitted by Dr Albert Sanchez-Graells has been heavily cited in a recent House of Commons report considered by the European Scrutiny Committee.

A series of arguments and calculations made within evidence submitted by Dr Albert Sanchez-Graells were listed in a recent House of Commons report, which concerned implications for cross-border UK-EU procurement in the context of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

Dr Sanchez-Graells’ evidence detailed the contribution EU public procurement rules make to the facilitation of trade services between the UK and the rest of the EU, as well as discussing the potential barriers to trade that could arise post-Brexit.

In a section titled ‘Brexit implications for UK-EU procurement’ the House of Commons report states that “[p]ossibly the most substantive account to date of the implications of Brexit for UK-EU procurement, from an economic and trade, as well as a purely legal, perspective, has been produced by Dr Albert Sanchez-Graells (Bristol University)”.
