The Right Hon Lord Wilson, Patron of the UBLC and Supreme Court Justice delivers annual lecture

On the evening of 20th March, The Right Hon Lord Wilson, UBLC Patron and Supreme Court Justice, delivered the 2017 Patron’s Lecture on ‘Changes Over The Centuries in the Financial Consequences of Divorce’.

Following an introduction from Professor Joanne Conaghan, Lord Wilson took students on a journey through the history of divorce from 1700 to present time, highlighting recent cases such as Granatino v Radmacher and Scatliffe v Scatliffe.

The event saw the Reception Rooms filled with over 100 students and finished with twenty minutes of questions from the audience, where students engaged with Lord Wilson further over policy considerations and recent Supreme Court decisions.

Adam Hunter, President of the UBLC 2016-17 commented:

"It was a privilege for the UBLC and Law School to have Lord Wilson deliver such a compelling lecture for our students. His lecture was both thought-provoking and insightful as Lord Wilson reflected on highlights of his legal career."
