Akis discussed his research on administrative democracy in Europe at Princeton University on 6-7 March. Akis’s paper was one of seven selected for the Comparative Law Work-in-Progress Workshop that brings together comparative law scholars from around the world. The workshop was co-sponsored by the American Society of Comparative Law; the Program in Law and Public Affairs, Princeton University; the University of Illinois College of Law and the UCLA School of Law.

Earlier this year, Akis presented another strand of his research in an invited talk he delivered at the European Studies Centre at the University of Oxford. The title of the lecture was “From the ‘Democratic Deficit’ to a ‘Democratic Surplus’: Constructing Administrative Democracy in Europe.”
