'We are very grateful to the Oak Foundation for supporting the work of the Centre.' Professor Rachel Murray

The Oak Foundation comprises a group of philanthropic organisations based in various countries around the world. It commits its resources to address issues of global, social and environmental concern, particularly those that have a major impact on the lives of the disadvantaged.  Oak’s International Human Rights Programme pursues the following 3 program objectives:

  • To uphold and strengthen fundamental guarantees prescribed by international law relating to liberty and security of the person (due process, freedom from torture and the prohibition on arbitrary detention).
  • To end impunity for gross human rights violations by holding abusers to account and seeking victim redress;
  • To equip human rights activists with the necessary tools and influence to effectively conduct their work.

The Centre's Director, Rachel Murray, said: 'we are very grateful to the Oak Foundation for supporting the work of the Centre. Their funding frees up other money in the budget to hold some key events and produce some key publications and other advice'.
