Data Hazards Project
Data Hazards is a project to help us all identify the hazards of using data science. Data scientists are great at selling our work, for example communicating the gains in efficiency and accuracy, but we are less well-practiced in thinking about the ethical implications of our work. The ethical implications go beyond most ethics Institutional Review Boards, to questions about the wider societal impact of data science and algorithms work. Find out more on the Data Hazards website.
The project was founded by Dr Natalie Zelenka and Dr Nina Di Cara whilst they were both at the University of Bristol and has been contributed to by a wide community across institutions and disciplines and receives continued support from the Jean Golding Institute, with JGI Data Scientist Dr Huw Day being the JGI point of contact for the Data Hazards project.
If you are based at the University of Bristol and interested in integrating the Data Hazards labels in your research or teaching, you can email the project at "data-hazards-project@bristol.ac.uk" to discuss how we can help.
