Young people, money management, borrowing and saving

This study of young people's interaction with financial services focused on:

• Young people's attitudes towards credit and savings.
• How young people regard financial institutions.
• How students manage their finances and the extent of their financial difficulties.

The study also sought to identify life events that are linked to changes in the level or nature of use of financial services by young people. The study combined desk research and secondary analysis of existing datasets.

The findings of the study were used to inform the 2004 independent review of the Banking Code.
