Book launch: Marriage, Gender and Refugee Migration by Natasha Carver

14 May 2021

Tuesday 25 May at 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Natasha will introduce her book, Marriage, Gender and Refugee Migration: Spousal Relationships among Somali Muslims in the UK (Rutgers University Press, 2021), and reflect on her experience of researching this topic before responding to questions from MMB Director, Bridget Anderson. We will also hear from Katharine Charsley, Professor of Migration Studies at the University of Bristol, who will discuss the book's key themes, and from poet Kaltun Duale of Kally’s Kollectives. We are delighted that Kaltun will be reading poems from Marriage, Gender and Refugee Migration as well as some of her own work. There will also be a chance for questions from the audience.

Natasha is a Lecturer in International Criminology in the School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol. She is also the coordinator for the MMB research challenge Bodies, Borders, Justice.

Everyone is welcome. We are seeking to make our events accessible to everyone, so please let us know if you face barriers we could address.
