Prof. Madhu Krishnan Elected to African Literature Association Council

Prof. Krishnan will sit on the executive council for a five-year term (until 2024). The African Literature Association (ALA) is an independent non-profit professional society that exists primarily to facilitate the attempts of a world-wide audience to appreciate the efforts of African writers and artists.

Prof. Krishnan is Professor of African, World and Comparative Literatures in the Department of English and academic lead for the Faculty of Arts' Centre for Black Humanities. Her research considers contemporary African writing in the context of transnational, world and global literary production. She is the author of three monographs, most recently Contingent Canons: African Literature and the Politics of Location, published by Cambridge University Press in 2018.
