University of Bristol’s Education courses ranked 43rd in the world

24 February 2025

The School of Education has moved up 16 places in The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2025 since last year.

Last year, the School of Education celebrated their Education subjects being recognised for research and teaching excellence, as they were ranked 59th in the world by THE.

However, it has been recently announced that the School’s Education subjects have moved up 16 places, being ranked 43rd in the world by THE World University Rankings by Subject 2025.

The good news comes just five months after the University of Bristol’s undergraduate Education subjects were ranked first in the UK by the Guardian University Guide 2024, released in September last year.

Overall, the University of Bristol is celebrating an even wider success across the board, with almost all of its other subjects ranked in the global top 100 in their fields.

As a result, the University of Bristol has risen to 68th place in The Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings 2025.

The rankings are determined by a global survey of senior academics and aim to celebrate universities that are leading the way in research and teaching excellence.

Reflecting on the School of Education’s recent success, its Head of School, Professor William Browne, said: 'It is great that as a discipline, Education within Bristol has moved back into the world top 50 in the THE rankings and close to our ranking of 38th in the QS World University Rankings by Subject last year.

'This is testament to the hard work of school colleagues in their research and teaching endeavours and reflects what a great place Bristol is to study education.'
