Louise Hazell, an EdD student in Learning, Leadership, and Policy at the University of Bristol, celebrated a major achievement at the 60th NATE Awards held at King's College London on Wednesday 18 November.
Louise was awarded the prestigious Terry Furlong Award for research by NATE, The National Association for the Teaching of English, a not for profit education charity.
Co-authored with Claire Burnett, Louise's winning article, "Voices in the year 7 classroom: a case study tracing evolving gender identities during a poetry unit of work focused on gender consciousness", explores the the strengths and limitations of the use of performance poetry when developing awareness of gender identity within adolescents. This recognition by the NATE Awards highlights Louise's dedication to the topic.
