Pathways to Doctoral Success

A programme to build connections and support your transition into doctoral research.

What is it?

This is an optional programme of events and training for "University of Bristol PGR Scholarship" holders who identify as being of Black heritage.

Why was it developed?

This programme was created in response to student feedback to ensure participants feel fully supported as they transition into research.

At the University of Bristol, we are committed to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment where all students can thrive. The Bristol Doctoral College (BDC) plays a key role in thy by providing development and training opportunities that enhance the experience of postgraduate researchers across the University.

What does it involve?

The programme offers a range of activities to support doctoral researchers throughout the academic year. It begins with a welcome event hosted by the Bristol Doctoral College, providing an informal space for participants to connect and gain an overview of the programme.

Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to come together in facilitated sessions—whether for networking, peer support, or professional development—helping them build connections and develop as researchers.
