Dr. Aske Poulsen has been appointed to a 2 year Carlsberg Reintegration Fellowship at Aalborg. His project, Empire without Alternative? Autocratic Power and Inevitability in the Early Roman Empire, asks whether Roman historians viewed one-man rule in Roman during the early Roman empire as inevitable.
Dr. Poulsen has also recently co-edited a volume with Arne Jönsson entitled Usages of the Past in Roman Historiography, which was published by Brill earlier this year. This volume brings together a range of scholars from the UK, US, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Italy, exploring how Roman historians used and manipulated the past.
