Working with us

The School of Chemistry welcomes enquiries from industry about collaborative projects. With our track record of innovative research we are the partners of choice for many companies.

Routes for support

  • Directly funded postdoctoral or PhD researchers
Direct funding of a postdoctoral researcher offers the maximum flexibility in terms of expertise and project start date and duration. Part funding of PhD projects is often a possibility.
  • Centres for Doctoral Training
The School of Chemistry is involved in eight EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs). Opportunities also exist for Associate Partners through the NERC Doctoral Training Partnership.
  • Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)
These are partnerships that match the needs of the business with academic knowledge and expertise.
  • Impact Funding Schemes
Several funding options exist for short term projects. More details can be found at the Division of Research, Enterprise and Innovation.

School of Chemistry Industrial Services team

We have ongoing collaborations with a range of companies, from large multinationals to small start-ups, and recognise the requirements of each partner and each project are different.

We can help to identify the most appropriate funding mechanism, and will discuss issues such as project management, reporting and intellectual property at the outset of any project.

Please contact the School of Chemistry Industrial Services Team in the first instance.
