This prestigious award will be received by Carmen in recognition of her creative and pioneering contributions that explore the applications of glycochemistry in emerging fields at the interface of chemistry, biology, and materials science.

Carmen, who will share the award with Professor Sabine Flitsch (University of Manchester), will give a Plenary Lecture at the opening ceremony of the 22nd European Carbohydrate Symposium in Gdansk on July 6, 2025.

Named after the winner of 1902 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, the award was established in 2008 by the European Carbohydrate Organisation in order to honour active carbohydrate scientists distinguished with contributions of excellence
