On Monday 25th September, we hosted our 2023 CDT Student Industry Showcase at MShed, Bristol,  After a welcome  from Professor Awais Rashid and Professor Adam Joinson, and industry partner introductions, the showcase included: 

• An industry partner presentation by Robert Hercock from BT
• An academic partner presentation by Professor Wouter Joosen from KU Leuven
• Lunch and poster presentations from all our student cohorts
• A session from our 2022 IRW Challenge Winners 
• Announcement of the 2023 IRW Challenge for our new cohort of students 
• Discussion around our CDT student short films produced from 2023 Responsible Innovation (RI) Challenge 

In response to the increasing demand for cyber security skills in the UK Labour Market and the need to develop a whole generation of professionals, the 2023 IRW Challenge focused on outreach and developing innovative and fun ways to teach secure software development topic or topics to Year 7 pupils in UK schools. 

During the following week, our new CDT cohort (C5) worked in separate teams, initially in Bristol and later in Bath,  to develop and present their solutions to members of the CDT Leadership Team and College of Supervisors.  The week also enabled the new CDT students to meet potential PhD supervisors and learn about the many active research projects at both universities associated with the CDT programme, as well as getting to know their academic and peer mentors.
