Research in the Finance group is organised into three research groups: Banking, Corporate Finance and Financial Markets. Our world-class, impactful research is published in a wide range of leading international journals, including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Management Science and the Review of Financial Studies. Each of the three research groups holds annual conferences which attract internationally eminent speakers. We also have a weekly external research seminar series and ad hoc internal seminars. As a group, we provide a collegiate and inclusive environment conducive to fostering research at the highest level.

We have a vibrant PhD community, and many of our PhD graduates secure academic positions at leading universities in the UK and internationally.

Our undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes are research-led and have a practical focus, giving students valuable skills to enhance their employability in the Finance industry. Many of our alumni hold senior positions in investment banks, asset management companies and other financial institutions.

Members of the Finance group hold journal editorial positions, and many are engaged with industry, regulators and professional bodies through visiting academic positions, advisory work or collaborative research.
