Accounting

Drawing on insights from across the social sciences and working with businesses, policy makers, professional accounting bodies, standard setters and regulators, our research and teaching explore management accounting practices, financial accounting and reporting, and accountability, sustainability, and governance issues, across the public, private and third sectors.

Our academic group interacts with several stakeholders to enhance our understanding of the ways in which accounting information and practices can be used to improve decision making. This link between research and impact is embedded in our teaching programmes and research profiles.

Our educational purpose is to provide our students with the knowledge base and skill set to be global citizens and succeed in their careers. Our courses are current, exciting and informed by internationally renowned research. Our research critically addresses the significant challenges that face individuals, communities and organisations and we strive to influence policymakers and regulators as they in turn respond to economic, social and environmental changes in the world around us.

We work to be world-class in our research by developing, recruiting, and retaining outstanding researchers. Our academics publish and hold editorial positions in top journals in the field.
