Professor Keith Edwards and Dr Gary Barker awarded BBSRC research grant to develop wheat molecular marker database

A £217,877 research grant to develop and validate a flexible genotyping platform for wheat has been awarded to Professor Keith Edwards and Dr Gary Barker from the School of Biological Sciences, University of Bristol. The funding from the BBSRC will enable Prof. Edwards’ team to extend the use of the SNP-based molecular markers currently being developed to a wide variety of industry and academic-based projects including those designed to address the UK’s food security priority. The award is in collaboration with the John Innes Centre and the biotechnology company KBioscience.
