With the 2001 trip cancelled due to Foot and Mouth, this was the
group's first visit to North Devon for a couple of years. We stayed in the
village hall at Taddiport and worked on a path linking a campsite to the
Tarka Trail at Smytham Manor. The main task was to construct a boardwalk
on either side of a footbridge, over some muddy ground. There were also
some path repairs. We didn't quite have time to complete the work, but
everyone was very pleased with the results of the weekend's
labours. We also got to use a selection of exciting new tools!
The pub
in Taddiport was well patronised and the hall promoted some interesting
sleeping arrangements! The trip also produced a near torrent of
submissions for the quotes board...
