Session 2: Language and Social Bilingualism In this part, we will be looking at the main definitions of bilingualism and at the main distinctions in the field. Most of the work comes from Baker (1993, 2001) - the first three chapters. What is in these notes is a summary and a commentary on what is written there. Other material comes from the Encyclopaedia of Language and Linguistics (1993) published by Elsevier-Pergamon.
