International Community

Welcome to Bristol Veterinary School’s International Community

Here at Bristol Veterinary School we have staff and students from around the globe. We want to share and celebrate such cultural diversity. At the same time, we recognise that our international staff and students may face unique challenges associated with living, working and studying away from ‘home’. We believe that all staff and students, wherever they are from, should feel integrated within the Veterinary School. This page has information on how we celebrate and support diversity and how you can engage with our international community.

Celebrating Different Cultures

The Global Lounge organises a range of social events and cultural celebrations throughout the year to allow staff and students to experience and learn about different cultures.  Highlights have included ‘Day of the Dead’ and a Diwali celebration. Most recently the Global Lounge and Veterinary School Equity, Diversity and Inclusion supported a student-led breakfast event on the Langford Campus to celebrate Lunar New Year.

There are many student groups which run through the Bristol University Student Union, including International student groups, that and offer the opportunity to meet fellow students from similar backgrounds through a range of different activities and events.

Support for International Staff and Students

The Global Lounge host a language cafe, which is a weekly, informal language learning event.

The International Office provide support and guidance for prospective and current international students, including guidance for new international students and signposting to support for current international students. The International Office also publish an international student guide. There is also specific guidance for Bristol Veterinary School international students.

Staff new to Bristol can find important information about relocating to Bristol. International Advisors within Human Resources can be contacted at any time and contact details are provided below.

Within the Veterinary School we have an International Director, Sue Horseman, and international staff and students are welcome to contact Sue to discuss anything related to being an international student or member of staff at the Veterinary School.  Contact details can be found below.
