On Friday 3rd November, BCFN, in conjunction with Oxford Instruments, hosted a mini-symposium on the theme of “Multi-Component Semiconductor Materials”, culminating in a seminar from Prof Narayan Pradhan of the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in Kolkata entitled “Doping Semiconductor Nanocrystals”. Prof Pradhan was recently awarded the Oxford Instruments Young Scientist India award for 2017 and the BCFN was his last stop in a week of visits to UK universities.

Also presenting their work in the mini symposium were BCFN 3rd year student Victoria Taylor, Matthew Parker of the Quantum Photonics group and Dr Devendra Tiwari from Prof David Fermin’s Electrochemistry group, while Prof Fermin chaired the event. Prof Pradhan also toured a number of research labs and conducted a short Q+A session with a panel of BCFN students carrying out projects in fields related to his research.
