Colloquium Schedule Spring 2024

This article details the full list of Colloquia scheduled for the Spring 2024 season, with all the available relevant information for each session included.

Mott G12 Lecture Theatre, HH Wills Physics Labs Building, Tyndall Ave, 3pm.


The Physics colloquium series is a programme of general talks of interest covering a wide range of different topics in physics. Each talk is intended for a general audience, UG students, PG students, Post Docs, Professional Services as well as academic staff.

The talks are at 3pm on Mondays in the Mott Lecture Theatre. After the talk you are invited to join the speaker for further questions and discuss ion over tea or coffee and biscuits in the 3rd floor common room. All are welcome to attend.


12th February: Professor Silke Buehler-Paschen - Institute of Solid State Physics, Vienna University - Quantum phases driven by strong correlations (Balazs Gyorffy memorial colloquium).

19th February: Mike Tarbutt, Imperial College - Laser-cooled molecules for quantum science and tests of fundamental physics.

26th February: Hannah Price, University of Birmingham - Simulating Quantum Physics in Four Spatial Dimensions.

4th March: Bristol postgraduates speakers.

11th March: Sotiria Fotopoulou, University of Bristol - Shedding light onto the Dark Universe with Euclid.

18th March: Stefan Erikkson, Swansea University - Testing fundamental physics with antihydrogen.
