Welcome to Professor Elisabeth J Cooper, UiT-The Arctic University of Norway

Elisabeth Cooper

14 December 2023

Professor Elisabeth J Cooper is visiting on the Bristol 'Next Generation' Visiting Researcher Programme and will be in Bristol from the 13th December to the 23rd January.

Professor Cooper is an expert in Plant Ecology at the Institute for Arctic and Marine Biology, UiT- The Arctic University of Norway. Her research interest is the ecological challenges that plants face in polar environments; the adaptations of the plants, acclimation of physiology as well as shifts in phenology and growth in response to changes in their environment. During the visit, Professor Cooper will work with Dr Christopher Williamson to develop a multi-disciplinary approach at the interface between terrestrial ecology, microbiology and biogeochemistry to characterise microbial regulation of snowpack nutrient evolution and the consequences for High Arctic vegetation in a warming world.

Professor Cooper is hosted by Dr Christopher Williamson in Geographical Sciences.
