E-book writer Part B: Importing

So, as discussed on the previous page, if we save the eBook we produced in webtest (e.g. to Stat-JR’s ‘ebooks’ folder), we can open Stat-JR’s eBook-reading interface, and import our eBook (as a zip file):

Depending on your activities in the webtest session - i.e. the session from which this eBook was generated - you may receive warnings, on import (e.g. that Resource Bindings are not associated with Activity Regions), which you can ignore. These arise in instances where templates have been run in webtest, but the details of these runs have not been added to an Activity Region in webtest’s eBook-writing window. Details of such executions will nevertheless appear in the ttl file (exported as part of the eBook from webtest), but they will not be associated with an Activity Region (although they can be if the eBook files are edited accordingly).

Once imported, you’ll see the Title, Author and Description you previously specified appear, as well as the date and time the eBook was exported from webtest (the eBook has to be selected/highlighted, as below, in the 'Your eBooks' list for these details to appear; similarly, it has to be selected in this manner for you to start 'reading' it too).  Starting a new reading process (as indicated below; we've called it 'Read 1') will open the eBook.

On the first page of the eBook (below) we see the titles, inputs and resources we requested (the plot will appear once the progress meter in the top-left corner indicates the underlying script has finished running). As discussed above, the input question box we requested doesn’t, by default, appear since the associated template all inputs necessary to run. On the left, we see a hierarchical tree of contents which respects the heading levels we allocated when earlier constructing the eBook.

Moving onto the next page (via the links indicated by the red circle/arrow above) we can view our model fit (below).

Again, here we see the eBook titles, text and resources we requested (except for the input question box), although there may be a short delay before some appear since the model is estimated anew in the background.

Many other resources are also produced behind-the-scenes, not just those we requested be included in on this page; these can be accessed either via the Resources link (highlighted below) or via the ‘about’ link in the bottom-right corner of any of the resources presented on the page (we leave this as an exercise for the interested reader).
