Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) and Poultry Welfare Officer (PWO) Course

World-renowned, widely accredited and highly valued by industry and competent authorities alike, our AWO/PWO courses have been delivered for over 20 years and are built on scientific research by the Animal Welfare department of the University of Bristol Veterinary School.

The courses build on the current UK and EU legislation and give you the capability to understand animal welfare at the time of killing, from a regulatory and scientific point of view, as well as the tools necessary to implement and audit an effective animal welfare environment in your and your suppliers’ premises.

The training can be delivered in situ, either in University grounds at Bristol or your company locations throughout the world, but can also be delivered remotely, when travelling is not feasible or restricted.

Aside from the formal presentation of the courses, we can tailor make content to suit your most immediate needs and we often shape the delivery to cover in-company training needs and retailer mandates.

The training consists of a two day course each with in-course assessments that satisfy requirements of UK/EU Regulations. They cover all legislative activities from reception of animals to animal welfare related quality consequences and truly prepares your team to understands the concept of animal welfare at the time of killing.

We follow up these qualifications with a Senior Animal Welfare/Senior Poultry Welfare Officer courses, for those who want to acquire advance hands-on knowledge on the subject.
