Conclusion

To conclude, the naming of the Merchant Venturer's Building was a result of the Society of Merchant Venturers's role in the foundation of the Faculty of Engineering, the ongoing relationship between the Society of Merchant Venturers and the faculty throughout the twentieth century, and the £100,000 donation made by the Society of Merchant Venturers in 1995. The Society of Merchant Venturers's Technical College's merging with the existing University College Engineering department established the foundation of the Faculty of Engineering as it is known today. The Society of Merchant Venturers's ongoing financial and physical support until the mid-twentieth century resulted in new equipment for the faculty, alongside several scholarships designed in part to support students. This relationship was firstly acknowledged through the Queen's Building plaque, and then again through the naming of Merchant Venturer's Building, which was solidified through the Society of Merchant Venturers's donation.
