Parents and supporters

We aim to help you navigate the open day and support your child/dependant while planning their next steps.

Before the open day

  • Book your place on an information session for parents, carers and supporters. We are offering two 30-minute information sessions for parents, carers and supporters at 10:40 am and 1:10 pm in The Reception Room, Wills Memorial Building. These sessions must be booked in advance. To do this, log in to your child/dependant's booking portal account and book your place.
  • Make sure your child/dependant has accessed their portal account before arriving. Information about the booking portal account is available in their booking confirmation email. When they sign in, they can view or edit their booking, and download their PDF. This PDF will also include a QR code which you will need to access your booked talks on the day.
  • Talk to your student about why they want to study a particular subject and what they are looking for in a university.
  • Encourage them to think about questions they might want to ask.
  • Bristol is a beautiful city, and the University is right at the heart of it. If possible, plan some time to explore.
  • Plan ahead to make sure you and your child/dependant get the most out of your visit and plan some breaks as the open day can be busy. See more information about planning your day.
  • Make us aware of any access requirements you or your child/dependant may have by contacting us at visit-us@bristol.ac.uk or calling +44 (0) 117 394 1649.
  • Have a look at our information for parents and carers.

On the day

  • There is no need to check in centrally when you arrive, so you can explore right away. We will ask to see your QR code at the beginning of your booked talks and activities.
  • Encourage your child/dependant to ask questions for themselves at the open day exhibition in the Richmond Building.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of your talks as any spaces after this time may be given to non-booked guests who would like to attend.
  • Due to capacity limitations, some subject activities may not allow for a guest to attend. This is a great chance to explore the campus yourself, ask our stewards any questions, have a coffee at one of our campus cafes, or enjoy a bite to eat from a local street food stall in Royal Fort Gardens. These locations will be marked on the map you will receive on the day.
