Getting here

Our undergraduate open days are popular events bringing thousands of visitors to our main campus in the heart of the city. Some of the roads around the campus will be closed to vehicles and parking close by is expensive and extremely limited. We strongly recommend you use public transport to travel to the University.

There is lots of additional useful information on the University's maps and travel page.

We have teamed up with some transport companies to offer exclusive discounts to open day attendees. See our discounts.

Getting to Bristol

There is no parking available at university accommodation or on campus and there will be a number of road closures in place. If you decide to travel by car, please be aware that Bristol has a Clean Air Zone.  You must pay to drive within the zone if your vehicle does not meet the zone's emission standards, unless you have an exemption.

Bristol has a number of Park and Ride services available which provide an alternative option to parking in the city. All of the Park and Ride options are located outside of Bristol's Clean Air Zone.

Please find more information and plan your journey with Bristol’s Park and Ride options below:

The 9 and M2 bus services from the park and rides will take you to The Centre. Please note that there is a 15-20 minute uphill walk from here to our Clifton campus.

The 505 bus service from the Long Ashton park and ride will stop at the Queen's Road bus stop which is a 10 minute walk to our Clifton campus, or you can continue to the Students Union stop at the Richmond Building.

The easiest way to get to our open day is by train. Bristol Temple Meads is Bristol's central train station, situated approximately 30 minutes walk from our campus.

A free shuttle bus service runs from Bristol Temple Meads to the main campus throughout the open day. The service runs every 10 to 15 minutes from 8:30 am. The last shuttle bus to campus departs from Woodland Road purple bus stop at 5 pm.

This service is very popular, and we recommend allowing at least 30 minutes for the transfer. Please check for any planned engineering works before you travel.

We have partnered with Great Western Railway (GWR) to provide a discount on train tickets on eligible journeys.

If you are planning to visit Bristol Dental School or St Thomas Street accommodation, these are both a 10 minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads station.

Bristol Bus and Coach Station is on Marlborough Street in the centre of Bristol, near to the University.

We have partnered with National Express to provide a discount on coach tickets on eligible journeys.

You can take a taxi to the University from outside the bus station or walk, which will take about 15 minutes and involves an uphill climb.
