Overview

The postgraduate programme in periodontology is designed to provide practitioners with in-depth evidence-based knowledge and technical skills that can be applied in their practice while pursuing a postgraduate education degree.

The structure of the programme allows practitioners to experience the surgical techniques in periodontology. You will work closely with the periodontal team to develop understanding, teamwork skills and confidence in treatment planning for advanced periodontal cases and in developing your own case portfolio. You will be taught by our internationally recognised academic staff and consultants as well as visiting experts in the field.

Access outstanding resources through the Clinical Skills Suite and Clinics at our new School plus Vesalius Clinical Training Unit.‌

Programme structure

Year one - three theoretical/practical units are delivered during year one through distance-learning material and self-directed study. Practical exercises will usually take place in our clinical skills suite on phantom heads or anatomy centre.

In Year two a further three units are delivered through distance-learning material and self-directed work.

An MSc will be awarded on successful completion of a research project and dissertation in Year three.

Clinical days are offered throughout all years of study, as an opportunity to gain additional experience in observing and treating patients.

Visit our programme catalogue for full details of the structure and unit content for our MSc Periodontology.
