Overview

The MA Digital Media Innovation programme is designed for creative professionals and media enthusiasts who wish to advance their skills in the rapidly evolving digital media landscape. This programme is for individuals looking to explore multimedia storytelling, interactive media, and digital content creation. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers advanced digital media production techniques, including animation, video editing, and interactive design. The programme stands out for its strong focus on both theoretical frameworks and practical applications, ensuring that students not only understand the latest media theories but also gain hands-on experience working with cutting-edge media content.

Students will have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with leading media companies, allowing them to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges. This unique blend of theory and practice prepares students to innovate and lead in various media industries, from traditional broadcasting to digital platforms and creative agencies.

Programme structure

The programme structure includes core units such as Tools and Methods for Digital Innovation, User Experience Design Fundamentals and Advanced Digital Media. These units are designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the tools and techniques used in contemporary digital media production.

In the second term, students engage in a practical client project, working closely with industry partners to create innovative media content that meets professional standards. This experience is invaluable for developing a portfolio of work that demonstrates technical skills and creative vision.

The final term features the Digital Media Innovation Project, a capstone project that allows students to showcase their ability to develop and execute a comprehensive digital media strategy. This project is often conducted in collaboration with their peers and media companies, providing students with real-world experience and industry contacts.

Entry requirements

You will typically need an upper second-class honours degree or an international equivalent in any discipline.

If you are currently completing a degree, we understand that your final grade may be higher than the interim grades or module/unit grades you have achieved during your studies to date.

We will consider your application if your interim grades are currently slightly lower than the programme's entry requirements and may make you an aspirational offer. This offer would be at the standard level, so you would need to achieve the standard entry requirements by the end of your degree. Specific module requirements would still apply.

We will also consider your application if your final overall achieved grade is slightly lower than the programme's entry requirement. If you have at least one of the following, please include your CV (curriculum vitae / résumé) when you apply, showing details of your relevant qualifications:

  • Evidence of relevant work experience (minimum six months) in a media-related role in any sector.
  • A postgraduate qualification.

If this is the case, please include your CV (curriculum vitae / resume / résumé) when you apply, showing details of your relevant qualifications.

See international equivalent qualifications on the International Office website.
