Up to 400 bursaries a year are available to help with the cost of gown hire. Gown hire costs range from £45 to £58.

This bursary is funded by the generosity of our graduation gown supplier, Ede & Ravenscroft.

Eligibility

You can apply if you: 

• find it difficult to attend your graduation ceremony because of gown costs
• are about to graduate from an undergraduate or postgraduate course
• have been invited to a graduation ceremony in Bristol.

Bursary awards

You can get a full (100%) discount on gown hire and a photography package if you received one of these awards in the 2024/25 academic year:

• Standalone bursary 
• Sanctuary scholarship
• Unite Foundation scholarship

All other successful applicants will receive a 50% discount on gown hire.

Applications for the July 2025 ceremonies will close at 9 am on Monday 16 June 2025.

We do not accept late applications.

Assessment process

We will prioritise students who have previously received financial support from us (the University).

The Graduation Office will contact you by 27 June 2025 to let you know if your application has been successful.

For the past four congregations, we accepted one in three eligible applications.
