University of Bristol international scholarship terms and conditions 2020

These terms are only relevant for students who started at the University in 2020. You may want to refer to the current terms and conditions instead.

Eligibility

Undergraduate

To be eligible for the University's undergraduate scholarships, you must:

  • be applying to any undergraduate course at the University of Bristol, with the exception of medicine, dentistry and veterinary science;
  • start your undergraduate programme in September 2020;
  • be classed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes;
  • not already be in receipt of other funding which would equate to more than the full cost of tuition fees alongside a Bristol scholarship.

Postgraduate

To be eligible for the University's postgraduate scholarships, you must:

  • be applying to any one-year, full-time postgraduate programme at the University of Bristol;
  • start your postgraduate programme in September 2020;
  • be classed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes;
  • not already be in receipt of other funding which would equate to more than the full cost of tuition fees alongside a Bristol scholarship.

Award

Unless otherwise stated, scholarships will be given in the form of a tuition fee discount and are non-transferable. No cash alternative will be offered.

If the amount of scholarship awarded is more than the cost of the tuition fees, the tuition fees will be covered in full and any remainder will not be issued.

Unless otherwise stated, undergraduate scholarships will be awarded for all years of undergraduate study taking place at the University of Bristol (not including placement years), subject to satisfactory attainment throughout the programme.

The University of Bristol reserves the right to update or amend scholarship awards without notice, based on the availability and quality of applications that are received.

How to apply

  1. All sections of the application form must be completed and submitted by the relevant deadline:
    • 29 March 2020 for undergraduate students;
    • 14 June 2020 for postgraduate students.
  2. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  3. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you state the information provided in the application is true to the best of your knowledge.
  4. The University will automatically consider applications into all eligible University of Bristol scholarship categories, including our partner scholarships with external providers.
  5. Undergraduate and postgraduate applications received by 29 March 2020 will be reviewed in early April, and successful scholars will be informed by email by 24 April 2020.
  6. Postgraduate applications received between 29 March 2020 and 14 June 2020 will be reviewed in early July, and successful scholars will be informed by email by 10 July 2020.
  7. If you receive an offer of a scholarship, you will be asked to review and sign a scholarship contract. Failure to return this documentation by the deadline set will result in the University offering the scholarship to someone else.

The University is unable to consider requests for increased and/or further funding. The amount of scholarship offered is non-negotiable.

The University's decision regarding successful scholars of the programme is final, and no further correspondence shall be entered into.

Other criteria

Applicants who defer their studies cannot defer their scholarship.

If you are awarded a scholarship, you agree to act as a good ambassador for the University of Bristol and at times will be asked to participate in events or promotional activities. Any involvement in these activities will take up no more than five hours per term.

Unless otherwise stated, scholarships will be given in the form of a tuition fee discount. Due to strict UK Visas and Immigration regulations, you must be able to show you have sufficient funds to cover the remainder of your tuition fees as well as adequate living expenses.
