There will be a variety of welcome events running across the University when you first arrive.

These will take place during the main arrivals period in September and October. Events will run again in January.

These events are to help you settle in, make friends and familiarise yourself with the campus and city. You can see a full list of events on our what’s on page.

Global Lounge events 

The Global Lounge is a multicultural hub welcoming all students. We are located in Senate House on campus. We are running a Summer programme throughout July and August, and welcome and community building events from Tuesday 3 September to Friday 18 October.

Welcome events will include:

• city orientation and campus tours
• free picnics and breakfasts to make friends from around the world
• a Language Café taster session where you can learn a new language or volunteer to teach one
• presentations on British culture and life in Bristol from our current students.

Students' Union events 

Bristol Students' Union (SU) will also be running a varied welcome programme of events for new and returning students. This will run from Sunday 8 September to Friday 13 September, with more events throughout autumn. It includes:

• arts and crafts
• alcohol free socials
• club nights
• ours of Bristol.

Alongside these events, the SU’s 350+ student groups run Give it a Go! sessions to give you a taster of what groups are available to join.

The SU’s Welcome Week ends with a Welcome Fair on Friday 13 September. Here out can meet a variety of local businesses, organisations, and brands. You can also find out about Bristol SU's student groups, to help you enjoy your time in Bristol.
