Biometric residence permit (BRP)

Guidance on how to collect your biometric residence permit.

How to collect your BRP

If your BRP is being delivered to the University

If the University has received your BRP, this will be given to you during your student document check (right to study). If you attend your student document check (right to study) and your BRP has not yet arrived, you can still complete your check. You will be emailed to collect your BRP once it has arrived.

If your BRP is being sent to the Post Office

Collect your BRP before you attend a student document check (right to study) check. If there is an issue with collecting your BRP from the Post Office, book an appointment with us and provide the documentation you have.

If you don’t know where your BRP is being sent

Check the application form you submitted when you applied for your visa (BRP). If you used the ACL code (2HE397) in your visa application, your BRP will arrive at the University. If you did not use the ACL code, your BRP will be sent to the post office. The post office it is being delivered to will be listed on your BRP collection letter.

If you have digital status instead of a BRP card

Visit the Government website and generate a share code. Ensure that the code starts with the letter 'S' as this is type of code we need. Bring this code to your student document check (right to study).

You will only be fully registered once you have completed your student document check (right to study).

If you have submitted a visa application but not received your BRP

Book a student document check (right to study) and bring your current visa and the document checklist from your visa application. If you receive your new visa at your accommodation, please email a copy of the front and back to svs-reg@bristol.ac.uk. If you asked for your BRP to be sent to the University, we will email you when it arrives.

We are currently experiencing a high volume of emails so there may be a delay in our response. We will try to get back to you as soon as possible.
