World Day of Social Justice - Centre for Poverty and Social Justice declaration

20 February 2024

The Centre for Poverty and Social Justice Research (CPSJ) releases a statement for World Social Justice Day

World day of Social Justice - CSPSJ declaration:

"In a world currently stricken with war, violent conflict and populism, the Centre for the Study of Poverty and Social Justice (CSPSJ) recognises the symbolic importance of having a day dedicated to the universal principle of social justice while noting that the struggle against injustice requires continual commitment.

Our centre is committed to the promotion of socially just and evidence-based (policy) solutions through its methodologically rigorous research that invites and informs democratic debate. The wide and varied work of our centre stands for the eradication of multidimensional poverty experienced by both majority and ‘minority’ populations and of socio-economic inequalities observed within and between households across the globe.

Our work also bolsters the fight against institutional racism and scapegoating and othering of migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and other ethnic 'minorities', alongside the institutional crimes committed e.g., by the states and corporations that often go unpunished despite inflicting harms on wider populations."
