What’s on offer?

A photography exhibition inviting viewers to reconsider the purpose and value of reforestation.

What’s it about?

Reforestation has been heavily promoted in recent years as a response to the climate crisis. Many reforestation schemes only see trees as a means to remove carbon from the atmosphere, disregarding the role of forests as repositories of water, biodiversity and diverse knowledge traditions. Building on research with indigenous Mapuche Pehuenche communities in Chile, this photography exhibition invites visitors to reconsider the purpose and value of reforestation, and the knowledges in which it should be rooted.

Who’s leading the event?

Karen Tucker, Senior Lecturer in Politics
