With 33 speakers and nearly 600 registrants, the event threatened to overwhelm the online platforms it was hosted on! Fortunately, actual turnout was a more modest 50 to 150 simultaneous connections.

Attendees heard from a diverse collection of speakers on a wide range of topics, from professional speaking consultant Will Kintish on how to network effectively, to science communicator and Twitch streamer Dr Sarah Kaiser on using online platforms to build quantum communities.

Over a dozen quantum tech companies were represented at the ‘face-to-face’ networking sessions on Gather. Recurring themes throughout the 3-day event included choosing between academia and industry in your career, and how to find or create opportunities in countries with less developed quantum tech programmes, which were addressed in part in the Crossover and EDI panel discussions.
